New Works of Art in the Collection of The National Museum in Szczecin

The collection of The National Museum in Szczecin – The Museum of Contemporary Art was extended by new objects in 2016. They are works by artists not presented in the Szczecin collection so far. Five of the purchased works (by Akademia Ruchu, Hubert Czerepok, Piotr Młodożeniec and Teresa Murak) may be seen on the permanent exhibition of The Centre of Dialogue Upheavals. In February 2017 the works by Antoni Karwowski will be presented at The Museum of Contemporary Art within the artist’s individual exhibition that is being arranged at the moment.

The purchase for the collection of contemporary has been subsidized by the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage and West-Pomeranian Voivodeship.

Piotr Młodożeniec (born in 1956) – graduate from Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw. Graphic designer, painter, drawer, author of animated movies and illustrations.

Antoni Karwowski (born in 1948) – graduate from Faculty of Fine Arts of Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń. Multimedia artist, performer, organizer, curator and independent lecturer. Since 1982 connected with artistic environment of Szczecin.

Akademia Ruchu (Academy of Movement), established in 1973 – artistic group led by Wojciech Krukowski, known as “theatre of behaviours” and visual narration. Acts on the borders of various disciplines – theatre, visual arts, performance and film.

Teresa Murak (born in 1962) – graduate from Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw. One of forerunners of performance art, land art and feminist art in Poland. Awarded Katarzyna Kobro prize in 2005.

Hanna Nowicka (born in 1962) – graduate from State College of Fine Arts in Gdańsk (present Academy of Fine Arts). Creates installations, deals with photography and painting. Since 2013 connected with Art Academy in Szczecin. Presently the Head of IV Picture Studio.

Łukasz Skąpski (born in 1958) – graduate from Academy of Fine Arts in Cracow. Intermedia artist, co-founder of Supergrupa Azorro. Since 2010 connected with Art Academy in Szczecin. Presently the Head of Chair of Photography at the Faculty of Painting and New Media.
