Take part in the 13th edition of the international photographic competition entitled "Mathematics in Focus"!
The competition is a part of Mathematics in Focus international educational and scientific project that has been organized at the University of Szczecin since 2010. The project includes, among others, scientific research, exhibitions, publications, conferences, open lectures and workshops for students and teachers.
The aim of the project is to create a link between mathematic and the art of photography, to support mathematical education, mathematical thinking and to promote knowledge and mathematical culture. The idea of the competition is based on combining image with the author's information on it. Naming a picture gives it a cognitive meaning. The competition is free of charge and accessible to anyone. Year by year, it has gained more and more worldwide interest. Its archive amounts to over 100,000 photographs. The initiator and manager of the project is Dr. Małgorzata Makiewicz, Prof. APS, Prof. US.
The competition has been held since 2010 in cooperation with West-Pomeranian Voivodeship and, since 2020, with Masovian Voivodeship.
The 13th edition of the competition is to be held between September 1st 2022 and November 1st 2022. This year's winners may expect extraordinary prizes: Apple laptops funded by Grupa Azoty Zakłady Chemiczne Polce S.A. and the University of Szczecin; smartphones and money prizes funded by the Masovian Voivodeship authorities; as well as nominations for exhibitions and publications.

The program entitled Fotoedukacja – matematyczny konkurs fotograficzny z programem ambasadorskim (mathematic photo competition with an ambassadors' program) has obtained a grant of the Ministry of Education and Science within Social Science Responsibility.
