West-Pomeranian Heritage Days: Threads Bind Generations Together

West-Pomeranian Heritage Days are a project aimed at promotion of diversity of the heritage of the region. This year's edition motto is "We Take After Them”, which refers to our predecessors' traditions, knowledge and accomplishments.

The NMS Department of Ethnography of Pomerania joins the celebration with a project named "Threads Bind Generations Together” inspired by folk crafts: embroidery and lacing.

From September 18th to October 16th 2022, at the courtyard of the National Museum in Szczecin – the Museum of Regional Traditions at ul. Staromłyńska 27, the visitors will have a chance to see a small exhibition of embroidery and lacing form the ethnographical collection of the NMS. They will include clothing elements, bedding, tablecloths and napkins.

On the exhibition opening day, at 12:00 noon, we invite families to the Museum facility at ul. Staromłyńska 27 to take part in knitting and embroidering. The meeting will be an excellent occasion to exchange experience and to show your skills. The older generations will have a chance to share their know-how with the younger.

Attention: the Museum DOES NOT provide materials and utensils - please bring them with you. The meeting participation is free of charge.

After the meeting there will be possibility to lend your works to the Museum. They will be presented at the exhibition space. You will also be able to submit them throughout the wole duration of the exhibition to the Museum ticket office at ul. Staromłyńska 27 within the Museum opening hours (you will be requested to provide us with your name and telephone number).

The exhibition is to be closed on October 16th at 12:00 noon. On that day, we will draw persons who will get gifts in return for lending us their works. The meeting will be accompanied by a lecture (in Polish).
