GENEALOGY 2023

Intervention in the space of the permanent exhibition "Hidden Messages. Art in Pomerania in the 16th and 17th Centuries". Exhibition of works by students of the Visual Communication Studio of the Faculty of Design at the Academy of Art in Szczecin.

The exhibition "Genealogy 2023" is the next edition of a series of exhibitions which ahve been implemented since 2014, related to the project "Genealogy. Artefacts of Ancient Art as Inspiration for the Young Artists".

It aims to answer the question: what inspiration can a young multimedia artist draw from historical exhibits?

The "Genealogy" project is a brave, but not devoid of distance and a sense of humour, intervention of contemporary art into priceless testimonies of history. This year's edition deals with symbols, allegories and ideological content hidden in works of art, and the creative impetus for those studying in the Visual Communication Studio is an encounter with the paintings, sculptures and handicrafts presented in the exhibition entitled "Hidden Messages. Art in Pomerania in the 16th and 17th Centuries".

Exhibition concept and project management: Prof. Dr hab. Waldemar Wojciechowski, Academy of Art in Szczecin

The "Genealogy" project is accompanied by a monograph containing essays and records of the first four editions, published in cooperation by Academy of Art in Szczecin and the National Museum in Szczecin in 2017.
