The Museum Re-Opens on February 11th 2021

After having verified sanitary protocols and, above all, according to numerous signals from the museum public (for which we would like to thank you very much, also for the critical ones), we accelerated the process of making the exhibitions available again.

We would like your visit to the Museum to be safe for you and for our staff. Intense work and consultations on ensuring this are in progress. The exhibitions will be gradually opened since February 11th 2021. The Museum will be open within the regular hours: between Thursday and Sunday from 12.00 at noon to 6.00 P.M. Appropriate sanitary regime will be in force (including covering the nose and the mouth, disinfecting hands, a limited number of people).

Since February 11th 2021, at The National Museum in Szczecin - The Museum of Contemporary Art, you will be able to see a prolongued temporary exhibition entitled "Vanitas-Ziemnik" composed of the latest works by Przemysław Cerebież-Tarabicki. After it (we hope in March), another temporary project will be presented - Zbigniew Romańczuk's individual exhibition, "Hyperlink". Both exhibitions are available virtually on the website www.muzeum.szczecin.pl.

In the building opposite, that is, at The National Museum in Szczecin - The Museum of Regional Traditions, you will be able to see permanent exhibitions: "The Golden Age of Pomerania. Art at the Court of Pomeranian Dukes in the 16th and 17th centuries", "The Pomeranian Cabinet. In the Mirror of Coins, Banknotes and Seals" and "Old Silver". In the courtyard, our lapidarium will also be available with the sculptures - "Moses" by Bernhard Bleeker, "Frederick II the Great" by Johann Gottfried Schadow and with relics of the Parnicka Gate. Everyday Life in Szczecin in the 20th Century ”. There will also be small exhibitions entitled "Eugen Dekkert. Museum Atelier" and "Biedermeier Studio" with paintings by Ludwig Eduard Lütke and August Ludwig Most. Each of these is a must for every resident of the city.

Due to the technology of the ventilation system, which does not ensure full air exchange in the underground part of The National Museum in Szczecin - The Dialogue Centre Upheavals, the permanent exhibition "City of Objection - City of Protest" has to remain closed. Since February 11th 2021, a small exhibition entitled "What is The Most Important" will be available in the Educational Room / Open Storage. The exhibition was arranged on the occasion of the 5th anniversary of The NMS-DCU (admission ticket: PLN 1). On Plac Solidarności you can also see the open-air "1970. Evil / Accident" exhibition.

The National Museum in Szczecin at Wały Chrobrego will open with the premiere display of the new temporary exhibition entitled "Archeomoderne. Polish Modern Art and State-Building Myths ”. The exhibition commemorates the 75th anniversary of Polish museology in Szczecin and the 50th anniversary of granting the institution the rank of a National Museum. It is aiming at showing the peculiratity of the local art collections in the context of the interdisciplinary rapprochement. On the account of objects lent by numerous institutions and private collectors, it will allow us to outline the history of this alliance, dating back to the 19th century, and of the 20th-century national background. The vernissage, also broadcast live on social media, is scheduled for March 12th 2021. On the following day, part of the Museum building will be made available to the public. In the exhibition halls on the ground floor, modernisation and preparatory works are being performed for new permanent old art exhibitions. On the first floor, in addition to the aforementioned temporary exhibition, there will also be ethnographic exhibitions ("In an African Village", "Between a Mask and a Fetish. The Art of Africa" and "Children of Magic. African Dolls and Puppets") and the exposition entitled "Ancient Roots of Europe". Szczecin Dohrns' Collection”.
