"Heritage of the Western and Northern Territories" Open-Air Exhibition

Join us for the opening of the open-air exhibition "Heritage of the Western and Northern Territories" at 1 Solidarności Square - the roof of the National Museum in Szczecin - the Dialogue Centre Upheavals - on Monday, 29 January 2024 at 5 P.M. The exhibition was prepared by the Consortium Network of the Western and Northern Territories. The admission is free of charge.

It is an extraordinary journey through the Western and Northern Territories. The Network's latest exhibition takes a look at the diverse dimensions of what makes up the unique, tangible and intangible, heritage of the lands annexed to Poland as a result of the Second World War, where there was an almost complete exchange of population. At the exhibition, visitors will be able to see what was found in these lands, to look into suitcases with things brought. Viewers will be able to familiarise themselves with what was produced here, but also look at what was lost.
With an interesting form, intriguing iconography and the voices of witnesses to history, the authors want to encourage visitors to reflect on our changing relationship to the world around us and our impact on its shape for future generations. What will be for them the legacy that is found, implanted, created or lost?

The exhibition was presented in Opole (19-26 October 2023), Zielona Góra (3-22 November 2023), Wrocław (28 November 2023 - 3 January 2024) and Olsztyn (10-20 January 2024). In Szczecin, it will be available for six weeks.

The exhibition can be visited individually around the clock and is available in Polish and English.

The Network of the Western and Northern Territories is a consortium of five institutions: the Silesian Institute in Opole, the Northern Institute in Olsztyn, the Western Institute in Poznań, the National Museum in Szczecin - the Dialogue Centre Upheavals and the "Pamięć i Przyszłość" Centre in Wrocław. The activities of the Network are carried out with the support of the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage.
