This is the 17th time I would like to encourage the citizens of Szczecin and guests of the city to spend the evening and night visiting museums, galleries and other spots, often surprising ones, that no one would ever associate with art or history.
We, museum professionals, are extremely pleased to see the long queues in front of our venues. We look with joy at the bustling corridors and exhibition halls. We are curious to learn about your impressions and opinions on our exhibitions. On this night night, almost 30 exhibitions will be available in the buildings of the National Museum in Szczecin alone. However, what primarily accompanies us on this night is... hope. Yes, hope that on this night you will love art even more and come back to us.
We wish you a beautiful and wise evening and night. After such artistic experience the authors of night dreams are supposed to be braver…

Intervention in the space of the permanent exhibition "Hidden meanings. Art in Pomerania in the 16th and 17th centuries". Exhibition of works by students of the Visual Communication Studio of the Faculty of Design at the Academy of Art in Szczecin. The exhibition "Genealogy 2023" is the next edition of a series of exhibitions held regularly since 2014 and related to the project "Genealogy. Artifacts of Old Art as Inspiration for Young Artists". Its aim is to try to answer the question: "what inspiration for a young multimedia artist can be provided by the historical artifacts shown at the exhibitions?" Once again, the works by students of the Academy of Art will be presented during the Night of Museums in the exhibition spaces of the National Museum in Szczecin. The "Genealogy" project is a bold, but not devoid of distance and a sense of humor, interference of contemporary art with priceless testimonies of history. This year's edition deals with symbols, allegories and ideological content hidden in works of art. The creative impulse for those studying in the Visual Communication Studio is the encounter with paintings, sculptures and handicrafts presented at the exhibition "Hidden Meanings. Art in Pomerania in the 16th and 17th Centuries".
The research project "Genealogy" research project obtained a monograph with essays and records of the first four editions of the project, published jointly by the Academy of Art and the National Museum in Szczecin in 2017.

Rock&Fire Popular Music Choir from Dom Kultury Krzemień, a cultural centre in Szczecin is a 50-member choir performing popular music in modern, multi-voice vocal arrangements accompanied by live instruments. Active since September 2021, it has a repertoire of songs from movies, popular music hits, gospel, traditional Christmas carols in innovative arrangements and much more. Edyta Turowska is the conductor and artistic director of the group, while pianist Aleksander Jastrząb, who accompanies the group during performances, is responsible for the instrumental layer.
Edyta Turowska - a resident of Szczecin, passionate about voice, conductor and arranger, for more than a dozen years has specialized in voice emission and singing lessons. A graduate of music and pedagogical studies at the University of Szczecin, she is a long-time conductor of pop and gospel music groups and choirs, where she performs original multi-voice arrangements of pop music hits and gospel repertoire. She has authored and co-authored numerous artistic projects (including the "Szczecin Gospel Choir" and the vocal group called "Grace Notes") and regularly cooperated with musicians and cultural institutions, spreading the idea of a healthy voice. She runs workshops on voice emission, vocalism and song interpretation throughout Poland for music groups and individual participants. At Vocal Academy, her vocal studio in Szczecin, she has been thoroughly supporting the vocal development of her discples for years. She is the author of a textbook for learning proper voice emission.
Aleksander Jastrząb is a pianist and a passionate of of keyboard instruments in every form. Since 2001 he has been actively cooperating with numerous Szczecin projects and musicians, such as Szczecin Gospel Choir, Cotton Fields, Margaret J. Project, Sandra Jakubowiak, Blue Crow, Lesja, Serre M'Mharry, Bossa Na Boca, Justyna Sawicka, Grace Notes, Parasoul and Joanna Stanuch. In Rock&Fire he is a pianist, accompanist and arranger and takes care of the instrumental side of the concerts.
MINTING A REPLICA COIN AND A WAX SEAL

The Department of Numismatics of the National Museum in Szczecin will set up a stand for minting a commemorative Pomeranian coin in the courtyard of the Museum of Regional Traditions. For the Night of Museums exclusively, new pistons of the double shekel of Duke Bogislaw XIV from 1629 will be prepared. The participants of the event will receive a diploma of their active participation in the Night of Museums and adults will be able to personally imprint a commemorative griffin head wax seal on the diploma in hot lacquer.

Galeria Foyer: painting exhibition – graduation work by Oliwia Zborowska
The exhibition presents paintings - the graduation work of Oliwia Zborowska, a student of the State Secondary School of Visual Arts in Szczecin. "My name is Oliwia Zborowska, I am a student of the graduating class of the State Secondary School of Fine Arts in Szczecin. At the exhibition I am primarily presenting my graduation work in painting, consisting of four 100 x 70 cm paintings and one of 120 x 160 cm. They depict the contrast between a sense of individuality and being part of society, to which everyone can relate personally, and this is what these works aim to do. My paintings are meant to attract with abundance of colours and dynamism. In my works, I aim to show movement, to capture the relationship between form and colour in a synthetic way. I use topics that are close to me and at the same time are fantastic. I do not lock my subject matter in one box. I am constantly exploring the boundaries of my creativity and the world I know. I paint because it makes me feel alive". - Oliwia Zborowska

Galeria Enter: "Retro Vibes” – shots from open-air photo sessions carried out by Olga Dąbkiewicz
The exhibition presents works by Aneta Kiergielewicz, Andrzej Graba Grabowiecki, Marta Miszuk, Ewa Lidia, Marzena Maćkowiak-Pluta, Jarosław Kruk. "Retro Vibes" open-air photo sessions are designed to promote retro style. An important role is played here by the models' outfits, covering the period from Victorian times to the so-called Golden Age of Hollywood, i.e. from 1930 to 1950. Thanks to the models' clothes, accessories, hairstyle and make-up, we can travel back in time. The 13 Muz and the Pomeranian Palace in Szczecin served as the background for the photos.
Olga Dąbkiewicz has been involved in fashion for years. In her free time, she likes to remake clothes and give them a second life. She plays with fashion, often combining retro classics with modernist solutions. She has been a long-time retro and pin-up model. For the past two years, she has been organising "Retro Vibes" open-air photo shoots in the West-Pomeranian Voivodeship. Her aim is to show the fashion of the past against the background of beautiful architecture, e.g. in Szczecin. She actively participates in artistic activities in Szczecin and all over Poland. She organises workshops on posing for photos and has conducted them during the Retro Fair in Cracow, during the Kustom Konwent event in Wrocław and during the 18th Boogie Woogie Festival in Człuchów. In 2022, during the "5th Paradise Day at Rayski" in Szczecin, she organised her pin-up zone. In addition, she ran retro fashion styling classes for seniors at the Pomeranian School of Psychology in Szczecin, as well as for ladies from Ukraine as part of her cooperation with the Pełnia Wyrazu Foundation.
Galeria Tworzę się: "Hidden Exhibition” – experiment playgrounds in an art gallery
"Hidden Exhibition" is an invitation to play and contemplate in a space related to art. Through exploration and mindfulness, children and youth will explore the world of art, including issues such as minimalism, whiteness in art, camouflage, as well as mind-stirring, emotionally evocative and inspiring places. Together with the invited artists, we have created an exhibition that helps to spark curiosity, encourages exploration and discovery in line with the motto: "Curiosity - the first step to development". This time, the Tworzę Się Gallery has become a typical 'white cube' gallery, which may surprise its regular visitors, accustomed to fancy scenography. With modest means and a minimalist form, we invite you to discover contemporary art, what is "invisible to the eyes", to be attentive, notice the details and discover your own path of impressions. "Hidden Exhibition" is also a pretext to talk about important things: hidden histories, resisting stereotypes, shame, exclusion and intolerance, the search for truth, self-discovery and "taking off the masks". What has been swept under the carpet, hidden in wardrobes, pushed away and repressed, now has a voice.

As part of this year's Night of Museums, the Philharmonic in Szczecin will once again open its spaces to the public. On May 13th, the building will be open to the public from 10 P.M. until midnight.
The Mieczysław Karłowicz Philharmonic in Szczecin is one of the most modern cultural institutions in Poland. Located on the site of the former Kozerthaus and recognisable by its distinctive shape, it catches the eye not only by its architectural qualities, but also by its unconventional approach to music. Thanks to it, it creates events that often set trends and reverberate abroad as well.
On the 17th European Night of Museums, it will once again open its spaces to the public. However, this will not be a standard guided tour of the building. Guests of the European Night of Museums who decide to stop by the Philharmonic on this day will have the opportunity to take an individual walk through the designated spaces. In addition to the stunning architecture, the symphony hall will showcase musical material available in the institution's numerous publications. Moreover, our shop will be open for anyone wishing to take home a 'piece of the philharmonic'.

"Ну, погоди! Nu, pogodi!"
The "Ну, погоди!, Nu, pogodi!" project refers to the use of printmaking and media in the context of Russia's ongoing aggression against Ukraine. It presents large-format works by young artists from Ukraine, Poland and Belgium.
"The metaphor taken from a popular cartoon refers to tactics of resistance to nihilistic, non-idealistic violence. It includes diplomatic efforts, economic sanctions and civil resistance. The attitude of the Ukrainian people has evolved into a kind of movement with enormous power, uniting the international community around it. War is not only a question of military and economic power, but also a struggle of ideas, symbols and cultural narratives. Art, in this sense, becomes a key field of conflict, as it can shape our perception of reality, influence emotions and reinforce or challenge dominant ideologies.
In the case of the Russian aggression against Ukraine, we see how culture and media are used as tools of propaganda as well as means of resistance and criticism. Russian media heroise the war by appealing to false historical narratives and resentments, using a whole range of manipulations, ignoring or justifying the crimes of the Russian military and human rights violations. This narrative is reinforced through the use of patriotic symbols, music and monuments, aiming to create a sense of collective identity and moral superiority. At the same time, Ukrainian artists and intellectuals use their work to challenge these narratives, expose the truth and mobilise public opinion. While art can be used as a tool of propaganda and domination, it is also a means of resistance and criticism, a voice of the oppressed and a space for dialogue."

Families with children are cordially invited to the next edition of the European Night of Museums. Our guests will have an excellent opportunity to explore the colourful and rich world of minerals, rocks and prehistoric creatures "enchanted in stone", i.e. fossils. Visitors will have the opportunity to encounter with, among other things, beautiful agates, jaspers, quartz geodes and other natural wonders - from the world of silica and beyond.
In addition, you will be able to learn about the geological history of the Baltic Sea region or view a rich collection of marine and desert sands from almost the entire globe. There will be no shortage of regional accents, as rocks that formed in the shallow, warm sea 30 million years ago, named the Szczecin spheres in honour of our beautiful city, will also be on display.
Visitors will also have access to multimedia and interactive stations, such as the educational game "Selected Raw Materials of Poland", a photoplasticon with 3D photographs of minerals and a unique display case with fluorescent minerals. There is also the opportunity to view samples of beach and desert sands under binoculars. Through a biological microscope and a polarising microscope, it will be possible to view the world of microorganisms and take a detailed look at the structure of crystalline rocks.
Lovers of nature and geology programs are invited to the projection room for video shows.
Little fans of geology and palaeontology will be given small minerals or fossils as free souvenirs. The number of specimens to be given away is limited!

"100th anniversary of the death of M.Bohl"
An international art and documentary exhibition commemorating the 100th anniversary of Maximilian Bohl's death. On display are Bohl's paintings with curatorial descriptions in Polish and English, sketches, memorabilia and postcards. The event was curated by a Polish research and curatorial team, funded by the Academy of Art in Szczecin, in collaboration with German curators from the Neuköllner Salon Gallery in Berlin. The exhibition comes to Szczecin after an earlier presentation in Berlin on 5-6.05.2023.

"Deeply in silence” – exhibition of paintings by Tomasz Kołodziejczyk and Marzena Ślusarczyk
Painting immersed in the moment. Reproduced with mesmerising precision, objects and figures immersed in silence, surrounding them like a piece of amber found on a sandy beach. The silence is tangible like a thick, transparent mass, preserving shape and form for millennia. It is not, however, a void consuming people and objects. There lurks something intriguing, disturbing, some phenomenon yet to become and fulfill. While observed, the moment is frozen like a frame on celluloid film. A tour around the historic Loitz tenement building. Visitors will learn about the history of the Gothic townhouse and the ups and downs of the Loitz banker family. They will visit the art studios (the ones of painting, sculpture, visual advertising and printmaking), secret passages and corridors and an unusual teachers' room as well as watch a demonstration of restoration techniques. It will also be possible to get a sneak peek of students at painting classes or try your own hand at drawing with charcoal and chalk.
There will also be workshops and a lecture by Rafał Szwendowicz in Polish.

Piwnica Kany (the Cellar of Kana) invites you to see the exhibition 'Wojciech Stefaniec's Comic Phantasmagoria'.
Wojciech Stefaniec (born 1980) graduated from artistic education at the Pomeranian Academy in Słupsk. He lives in Słupsk and is an author of covers for books, music albums and newspapers; posters, logos and, finally, comic books. He has been awarded, among others: Polish Comics Association Award in the category Best Illustrator of the Year (2011); first prize in the Jan Stepek journalism competition for the cover of 13 January 2011, made for "Głos Pomorza" (2011); third place in the Regional Journals category in the competition of the Chamber of Press Publishers for the Press Cover of the Year Grand Front 2011 for the cover of 13 January 2011, made for "Głos Pomorza"; award of the Polish Comics Association at the International Book Fair in Warsaw in the category Best Album of the Year 2013 for the comic book "NOIR" (2014); Bronze Chimera for the cover of "Głos Pomorza" of 7 August 2008. TRAFO Centre for Contemporary Art in Szczecin is regularly open to the public for the longest time among the city's exhibition institutions: on Fridays and Saturdays until 9 P.M., and on the other days of the week until 7 P.M. Regular visitors know that events at TRAFO sometimes drag on late into the night on no special occasion. The reasons for meetings are the art and the audience. So we look at the Night of Museums as a popular attraction with a pinch of salt. We suggest experiencing art every day. After all, it is best viewed alone and not in groups, just like watching a film or reading a book. Nevertheless, during the Night of Museums we are as usual open to the public until midnight. So come along!
We are currently presenting three exhibitions.
On the ground floor, you can see Andrzej Wasilewski's 'Factory of the Absolute'. Presented in the form of impressive visual and sound installations, the exhibition addresses the complexity of coal and fossil fuels in terms of climate change and the creating new social and political utopias. The title is taken from Karel Čapek's novel, in which a visionary inventor constructs a carburator to extract unused energy from coal. In doing so, he releases the idea of the absolute assigned to the 'object'. If God is everywhere, can He be extracted from there?

In the galleries on the first and second floors, an exhibition of the successful artist of the young generation Horacy Muszyński "Golden Drop" is presented. During a two-year residency at the prestigious De Ateliers in Amsterdam, he created, in collaboration with TRAFO, an exhibition telling the story of the Bio-Korf corporation's flagship research project and the controversial product 'Golden Drop' developed as a result, from which the exhibition takes its title. The product, which is an alternative to bee honey, aroused much excitement. Why? Anyone not yet familiar with the answer to this question is welcome to visit TRAFO.

As every year, TRAFO presents a post-competition exhibition of one of the most important festivals of contemporary art in Poland, 'Young Wolves 23'. The project, by definition, supports artists of the younger generation. Many of the participants of the previous editions now enjoy international recognition (including Horacy Muszyński). The winners of this year's edition are: Józef Jakacki, Szymon Janczy, Konstanty Konopinski, Klaudia Opoka, Lena Peplińska, Aleksander Steblik, Kuba Stępień, Martha Sundmann, Yuliya Terpilovska, Daniela Weiss / Agata Siubijak.

On this night, it will be possible to visit, among other things, the office of the Mayor of Szczecin, Piotr Krzystek, with himself as the guide. In addition, the City Council session room, the library room, the wedding room and the basement of the City Hall will be open to visitors.
An additional attraction of the Night of Museums will be a historical re-enactment depicting the everyday life of the Vikings, carried out on the occasion of the Scandinavian Days, which are taking place at the same time. This event will be on show in front of the City Hall between 16:00 and 21:00.

THE LENTZ VILLA

On the Night of Museums, in addition to visiting the historic villa, you may see the permanent exhibition "Lentz Villa. Historia(od)nowa" and the temporary exhibition "Eye Flaps Off".
The main attraction of the event will be the presentation of an innovative audiovisual form entitled. "Time. Colour. Space'. The presentation will be screened regularly from 21.30.
The film "Szczecin Lentz Villa - Return to Splendour" will also be screened in the theatre and cinema hall. Screenings every hour: 20.00, 21.00, 22.00, 23.00). Refreshments will be available for purchase during the event.
"Time. Colour. Space" is a multi-coloured, immersive experience of the art world. Thanks to the combination of the latest 3D animation techniques and innovative scenography, we will discover another dimension of experiencing the paintings of the great masters. Colour, composition and space will become the main characters of the painting storyline. Visual quotations from Kandinsky, Klimt and Fangor, among others, await us. Time, colour and space are what links the artistic events created at the Lentz Villa. Details coming soon.

The film 'Szczecińska Willa Lentza - Return to Splendour' is a reportage directed by Małgorzata Frymus and edited by Łukasz Nyks, recording the course of the renovation of the Lentz Villa carried out in 2018-2019. It shows one of the most beautiful monuments of Szczecin, which is described in detail by experts in history and the arcana of construction: dr Maciej Słomiński, Michał Dębowski, Marta Kaźmierczak-Gieda, Robert Rodecki, Maciej Burdzy, Michał Demski.

A visit to the Pomeranian Dukes' Castle will transport the audience into the world of old Pomerania. We will be commemorating Duke Bogislaw X the Great, who died 500 years ago, and the period of prosperity and development of the Griffin family during his reign.
It will be possible to visit all permanent exhibitions in the south wing (entrance L) free of charge.
Visitors will be able to draw special lottery tickets, each of which will contain a story about Bogislaw X, the ducal sarcophagi and old mourning customs, as well as old arts and crafts. The themed photo-walls, relating to the era and the exhibitions on display, will offer the opportunity to take your photographs. For the brave, there will be an opportunity to take part in courtly games with prizes.
The museum shop with castle publications (entrance I) and the Bell Tower - one of the best viewing points in the city (entrance E) revealing relics of ancient architecture - will be open.
At the end of the event, we invite you to a release of the animated film "The Great Journey of Bogislaw X" (Mint Courtyard). The film humorously tells the story of the Pomeranian duke's extremely colourful and unusual journey to the Holy Land. Together with the characters, the audience will visit Rome, Venice, Florence, Nuremberg, Rhodes, Cyprus and Jerusalem. They will meet historical figures: Pope Alexander VI, King Maximilian I of Habsburg, the painter Albrecht Dürer, Nicolaus Copernicus and many others.
